  10. This version of Dr Solomon's FindVirus is designed to run on IBM PC
  11. compatible computers.  Remember that FindVirus is just one part of Dr
  12. Solomon's Anti-Virus Toolkit.
  13.  
  14. The full commercial Toolkit includes many other facilities including a user 
  15. interface, TSR, VxD, Virus Encyclopedia etc as well as versions specific for 
  16. DOS, Windows 3.x, Windows 95, Windows NT, OS/2, Novell NetWare, Unix and 
  17. Apple Macintosh.  Read TOOLKIT.TXT for more information on this.

  19. If you suspect you may have a virus we strongly recommend that you 
  20. cold-boot (not Ctrl-Alt-Del) from a clean (virus-free), write-protected      
  21. floppy disk and run FindVirus from a write-protected floppy.  This ensures
  22. that the virus will not be in memory while you are scanning or attempting
  23. to repair the infection.  If FindVirus detects a virus in memory it will
  24. warn you with a suitable message.

  27. FINDVIRUS SYNTAX

  30. Users of 8086/286 machines will be unable to use the /ANALYZE and
  31. /UNZIP options, as they are only available on 386 PCs and better.

  36.            FINDVIRU [switches]

  42.            /386 ................. Force use of 386 version of FindVirus 
  43.                                   (which supports the unzipping and 
  44.                                   heuristic analysis command-line 
  45.                                   options).  FindVirus should 
  46.                                   automatically detect if you have a 386,
  47.                                   but if you experience problems try this
  48.                                   switch.
  49.            /ALLDRIVES or /AD..... Check all fixed disk drives,
  50.                                   including network drives.
  51.            /ANALYZE or /ANALYSE   
  52.                     or /AN....... Use Advanced Heuristic Analysis
  53.                                   to detect new and unknown viruses.
  54.            /DOALLFILES .......... Check all files, not just
  55.                                   executables.
  56.            /EXTRA=file .......... Use specified additional virus
  57.                                   driver file.
  58.            /HELP or /? .......... Display command-line syntax.
  59.            /LOCAL ............... Check local hard drives.
  60.            /LOUD ................ Display verbose output.
  61.            /NOPACK .............. Do not scan internally files
  62.                                   compressed with PKLite, LZExe,
  63.                                   ICE, CryptCom, Microsoft Expand
  64.                                   and Diet (default).
  65.            /PACK ................ Scan internally files compressed
  66.                                   with PKLite, LZExe, ICE, CryptCom,
  67.                                   Microsoft Expand and Diet.
  68.            /PRINTOUT ............ Output report to printer as well
  69.                                   as to screen.
  70.            /REPAIR [/DELETE] .... Repair infected files.  The optional
  71.                                   /DELETE switch deletes files that
  72.                                   cannot be repaired.
  73.            /REPORT=file ......... Output report to specified file.
  74.            /UNZIP ............... Scan recursively files compressed
  75.                                   with PKZIP, ARJ, ARC, LZH, PKLite,
  76.                                   LZExe, ICE, CryptCom, Microsoft
  77.                                   Expand and Diet.  If you use this
  78.                                   switch it is not necessary to use
  79.                                   the /PACK option.
  80.            /YESBREAK ............ Allow FindVirus to be interrupted
  81.                                   during scan with Ctrl-Break.

  85.  Dr Solomon's FindVirus included in the full commercial version of
  86.  Dr Solomon's Anti-Virus Toolkit.

  92.   Scans the C: drive for known viruses

  95.   Scans the C: drive for known viruses, including inside compressed 
  96.   and archived files.

  99.   Scans the C: and D: drives for both known *and* unknown viruses.

  101. FINDVIRU /LOCAL /REPAIR
  102.   Scans all local fixed drives for known viruses.  If any are found 
  103.   FindVirus will attempt to clean-up the infection.

  105. FINDVIRU A: /REPORT=C:\REPORT.TXT
  106.   Scans the A: drive for known viruses, writing a report to REPORT.TXT in
  107.   the root directory of the C: drive
